Q: Why should I hire a bookkeeper?
A: You may not need to. However, if you have a small business and you don't have the time or the experience to do the bookkeeping yourself, then you need to hire an experienced bookkeeper to do it for you. You may have your mom or your buddy do the bookkeeping for you. If they know something about bookkeeping and you're a small, sole proprietor, then you may be fine. What you don't want is to get to tax time and your books are such a mess and the tax preparer charges extra or refers you to a bookkeeper to clean up your books first. Then you're under pressure to get the job done ASAP. How much better is it to have the books done right in the first place!
Q: How much do you charge for your services?
A: It depends on the service and the scope of what you need. For example, for income tax preparation, I charge by the form. I can give you a general idea of the total charges by asking you a series of questions regarding your tax situation. For bookkeeping, I can charge by the hour or by the project. I'll need to sit down with you to go over your individual needs, then prepare a proposal for your approval. I can even charge by the hour initially if you prefer, then go to a flat monthly fee, depending on your situation. For budgeting assistance, I charge by the hour, on a sliding scale, depending on what you can afford.
The initial consultation is free for all services (up to 1 hour).
Q: Will you come to me?
A: If you are located in the Columbus area, then I can usually accomodate you. However, if you are beyond a 10 mile radius, I may charge for travel time. Fuel prices are costly for all of us!
A: By either phone or email. I'll get back to you within 1 to 2 business days.
